Why Perth?

The idea of skiing in Perth might initially sound implausible, but there are a number of very positive factors that point to the potential success of the concept:

  1. There is a large number of ski enthusiasts living in Perth who are prevented from pursuing their sport by the long distance / high expense of a ski holiday from Perth
  2. The Perth populace is active, outdoor, sporting oriented and open to new ideas
  3. Perth residents would love something cool to do in summer!
  4. A Snowdome would be a significant addition to Perth’s range of tourist attractions and would encourage interstate visitation (the only other Snowdome in Australia is the world’s first in Mt Thebarton, Adelaide) and provide a greater range of activities for international visitors.
  5. Technology advancements may have led to the potential for lower capital and operating costs than earlier Snowdomes (many of which struggled to be profitable).
  6. Successful Snowdomes around the world operate in areas with similar population catchment.
